Invisible to AI search was an identity problem
A week with no new features, spent making appkeep legible to machines. AI search couldn't find the site, and when it did, it confused appkeep with HomeKeep and a defunct Estonian app of the same name. The site turned out to be indexed but unranked, which is a different problem than not indexed, with a different fix. So the week went to identity: founder schema, a LinkedIn company page, inbound links, and verification in both Bing and Google, none of which shows on the site.
No new features this week. The work was making appkeep legible to machines.
I checked whether AI search could find it. It couldn’t. Worse, when it did surface us, it confused appkeep with HomeKeep and with a defunct Estonian app that also called itself Appkeep. Two companies we aren’t, one of them already dead.
My first guess was that Google hadn’t indexed the site. The data said otherwise: thirteen guides are indexed, they just don’t rank yet. New domain, no authority. Indexed but invisible is a different problem than not indexed, with a different fix.
So the week went to identity
Founder schema on the site, Sander and me as real, linked entities pointing to a new LinkedIn company page. The plain “appkeep” handles were taken, so we’re appkeep-home.
Inbound links from karolinasarna.com and rebelstrategylab.com. Verified in both Bing and Google, sitemaps crawling, lifespan reference pages source-checked; one boiler number was wrong, now fixed.
None of this shows on the site. It’s there so a machine knows which appkeep is real.
